Entertainment: Candy Corn |
Sunday, October 31, 2004 @ 01:17AM Candy corn is the best Halloween candy. Of course there is also candy pumpkins but they do not compare to candy corn for candy pumpkins is to much sugar, corn syrup and wax to put in your mouth at the same time while candy corn is just the right amount to satisfy your sweet temptation till you each another piece. The one thing I do not want people to think is candy corn is bad for them. Candy corn contains only 5.4 calories per piece. Candy corn contains no fat or just about anything else. The only thing candy corn does contain is a little sodium and some carbohydrates. This is a reminder, during this Halloween season do not forget to get your fill on candy corn for you may be forced to go another year before you can find the sweet and tasty candy corn again.

World News: Google’s self-esteem issues |
Saturday, October 30, 2004 @ 04:35PM It is now apparent despite Google’s success it still has some self-esteem issues. When searching for the key words ‘search engine’ Google ranks itself in sixth place after Yahoo, Lycos, Dogpile and AltaVista. Come on Google, you are worthy being in first place in your own search results so cheer up and move on up to first place.

World News: Blind Political Following |
Saturday, October 30, 2004 @ 04:14PM What makes people think their candidate is the best for the job and the other is completely incompetent? What makes people think their political party has all the answers to all of the world’s problems? Many people go to vote and only vote for one political party every time. Blindly following a political party is as worse as not voting at all. Blindly following a political party without understanding each candidate is pure ignorance. No one person or political party can solve every problem that has existed for ages so why do people believe their political party can fix everything. When either party says something, you should consider it bull shit until you can find confirmation from another source. Why do some people not have the ability to understand that each political party has good ideas as well as some bad ideas? By the time people are old enough to vote their minds should have developed to a state where they understand the entire world is not a matter of this person is right and that person is wrong. It is quite possible neither party knows how to fix a particular problem. They are just hoping the masses do not understand what they are saying will never work. Most people do not understand the issues so they must believe what the politicians say. No one likes to hear someone they want to trust say they have no idea how to solve a major problem and are therefore are willing to accept anything the party touts as the solution.

World News: Cheering for your favorite team |
Friday, October 29, 2004 @ 05:47PM With the World Series ending a topic has come up that has mystified me for some time. When a team wins, why do the people who cheer for them act they had any part in the team winning? On TV, I watch people talk about how they never gave up on their team and were always with them. The people saying this do not work for or represent the team so why are they referring to the winning team as their team and acting like they are part of the team? I can understand the people that cheer on a team and feel good when they win but I do not understand the people who act they had some part in the team winning. Is the reason because they can not play sports so they must live their sports dreams through someone else? Are people’s lives so pitiful they must live life through someone else? Do not act like the team was playing as hard as they could be cause of you. Professional sports are big business. Professional baseball players play as hard as they do because the more runs they get or the more RBIs they accumulated the more money they can demand. Baseball and all other professional sports are about money. Many professional players do not give a damn about their team’s fans. If the players did care, they would not charge money for their signatures. If they cared, they would not demand such high salaries which cause higher ticket prices. If they cared, they would not go on strike depriving their fans from watching them play.

Common Sense: Merging to one lane |
Friday, October 22, 2004 @ 11:00PM It became evident to me today that people do not know how to be civilized while driving. When driving on a two lane road and one of the lanes becomes blocked due to a delivery truck or broken down car, the civilized thing is to let the cars in the blacked lane merge into your lane. This does not mean you have to let everyone merge in from of you , however if each car lets one car merge in front of them then traffic can keep moving and no one has to be stuck in the blocked lane. If you decide to be uncivilized and not let a car merge in front of you then do not give a car the perception you are letting them in your lane by slowing down and giving them room to merge but at the last minute as the car is about be complete the merge hit your gas causing them swing back into their original lane so you do not hit them.

World News: President Bush and Senator Kerry verbal spewage |
Wednesday, October 20, 2004 @ 11:10PM I believe it is time something is said about the upcoming election and the political rhetoric that is being spewed by both campaigns (Yes, I am aware there are other candidates but other than C-SPAN no one is listening to their verbal spewing). Do people actually think either candidate will actually do what they say if they are elected? Do people seriously think President Bush will kill the social security system? The people who receive social security make up the largest voting block. Killing social security will kill the careers of anyone that supports ending social security. Do people actually think Senator Kerry will pull all troops out of Iraq as soon as he is elected? Pulling troops out will destroy any stability currently in Iraq causing more problems there are now and as a result destroy the chance of Senator Kerry running for reelection.

World News: Inclement weather driving |
Tuesday, October 19, 2004 @ 11:23PM As the temperatures lower and rain becomes snow it is important to be careful while driving however there are times when drivers begin to freak out because of a little snow or rain which results in traffic being ground to a halt. The following tips are to help drivers know when to use precaution and when not as rain and snow falls to the ground. • When it begins to rain or snow heavily, turn on your damn headlights you dumbass! Headlights not only allow you to see me but also make it easier for me to avoid smashing into the back of your car. However this does not mean you should turn or your highbeems. • Keep in mind that wet brakes are not nearly as effective as dry brakes, and as such pulling out in front of me and forcing me to hit the brakes hard when I'm going 55 is even less intelligent than usual. • Be able to identify and compensate for various types on inclement weather. Despite what you believe five drops of rain on your windshield does not constitute a rainstorm. There is no need to slow down to 50mph in a 65mph zone. • If you have a four-wheel drive SUV does not mean you rule the road. During rain and snow storms it is still possible to loose control of your SUV. Having a four-wheel drive SUV does not make you indestructible.

World News: Computers cannot be treated the same way as toasters. |
Monday, October 18, 2004 @ 10:29PM Unlike a toaster you cannot use a computer and not take proper precautions to make sure it is protected from people and companies trying to hijack it. Many people are beginning to understand a computer must have a virus scanner to protect it from viruses but most people still do not understand the need to protect their computer from spyware. Spyware is commonly referred to as a program which monitors and collects information about a user with the purpose of sending the data back to a central server. It is estimated 90% of computers are infected with spyware. Spyware not only gives out information collected about the computer user but can also cause an increase of popup ads displayed on user’s computer, slow down the internet connection and computer and make the computer more acceptable to more spyware and viruses. I once talked to an individual who had over 1000 different files which made up the spyware and viruses on his computer. I would not have believed one computer could be so bad till he showed me a printout of everything found on his computer. And he wondered why his computer ran so slow.
