What makes people think their candidate is the best for the job and the other is completely incompetent? What makes people think their political party has all the answers to all of the world’s problems? Many people go to vote and only vote for one political party every time. Blindly following a political party is as worse as not voting at all. Blindly following a political party without understanding each candidate is pure ignorance. No one person or political party can solve every problem that has existed for ages so why do people believe their political party can fix everything. When either party says something, you should consider it bull shit until you can find confirmation from another source.

Why do some people not have the ability to understand that each political party has good ideas as well as some bad ideas? By the time people are old enough to vote their minds should have developed to a state where they understand the entire world is not a matter of this person is right and that person is wrong. It is quite possible neither party knows how to fix a particular problem. They are just hoping the masses do not understand what they are saying will never work. Most people do not understand the issues so they must believe what the politicians say. No one likes to hear someone they want to trust say they have no idea how to solve a major problem and are therefore are willing to accept anything the party touts as the solution.

Blind followers of a candidate are unwilling to accept their candidate is only human and might have flaws. Any faults found against Senator Kerry is just the right wing fundamentalists trying to prevent Senator Kerry becoming president. On the other side, we have people who have such faith in the president; he can do no wrong in their eyes. These people have been taught to have complete and unwavering faith in the president because he is the sole leader in the free world so his judgments should not be questioned. This group of people refuses to accept there might be someone who can do a better job. In the middle, we have people who are willing to accept their candidate has some flaws but he means well. Despite what this group of people tries to believe you cannot polish a turd.

Every American should question everything a politician says. Many politicians could not give a damn about their fellow Americans. Politicians will say whatever they have to in order to become reelected. Do politicians knowingly lie? Not necessarily, politicians like to hide behind questionable statistics when they are trying to prove a point. Anyone who has taken college courses in statistics know statistics can be used to prove almost anything. The President can say one thing and Senator Kerry can say something completely opposite that contradicts the President. Senator Kerry claims the number of US jobs is decreasing while President Bush claims the number of jobs in the US is increasing. What person is correct? They are both correct, depending on which group of numbers you include in your statistics and how you interpret them. Of course, politicians do not make it easy to find out were they derived their numbers from.

From my observations during this election season many people pick their candidate because at least they are not the other candidate. People do not like the current president so anyone must be better because they are not George W. Bush. In the front lawns of people’s homes I see signs which say “Anyone but Bush� Under this notion people will follow the next Hitler. Why? Because anyone must be better than our current president and Hitler is someone other than President Bush.

The problem that arises is who to vote for next Tuesday. It is time for people to understand this is not an election of which candidate will be able to fulfill their promises. Most of the promises made by all political candidates are bull shit and they know it. Instead when you vote you must decide which candidate will do the least amount of damage.
