    Entertainment:  Candy Corn
Sunday, October 31, 2004 @ 01:17AM

Candy corn is the best Halloween candy. Of course there is also candy pumpkins but they do not compare to candy corn for candy pumpkins is to much sugar, corn syrup and wax to put in your mouth at the same time while candy corn is just the right amount to satisfy your sweet temptation till you each another piece.

The one thing I do not want people to think is candy corn is bad for them. Candy corn contains only 5.4 calories per piece. Candy corn contains no fat or just about anything else. The only thing candy corn does contain is a little sodium and some carbohydrates.

This is a reminder, during this Halloween season do not forget to get your fill on candy corn for you may be forced to go another year before you can find the sweet and tasty candy corn again.

History Lesson:
The first record of the candy dates back to the 1880s however it is unknown whom the first person to make the Halloween candy treats was. It is known the Wunderle Candy Company of Philadelphia was the first to go into commercial production. The Goelitz Candy Company (now Jelly Belly Candy Company) started producing the confection in 1900 and still produces candy corn today. In the early years of candy corn production it was a completely manual process requiring men to pour the candy syrup into the mold. Machines used today are able to produce over 20 million pounds of candy corn and can make candy corn almost entirely without human intervention.
