    Cheering for your favorite team
Friday, October 29, 2004 @ 05:47PM
With the World Series ending a topic has come up that has mystified me for some time. When a team wins, why do the people who cheer for them act they had any part in the team winning? On TV, I watch people talk about how they never gave up on their team and were always with them. The people saying this do not work for or represent the team so why are they referring to the winning team as their team and acting like they are part of the team? I can understand the people that cheer on a team and feel good when they win but I do not understand the people who act they had some part in the team winning. Is the reason because they can not play sports so they must live their sports dreams through someone else? Are people’s lives so pitiful they must live life through someone else?

Do not act like the team was playing as hard as they could be cause of you. Professional sports are big business. Professional baseball players play as hard as they do because the more runs they get or the more RBIs they accumulated the more money they can demand. Baseball and all other professional sports are about money. Many professional players do not give a damn about their team’s fans. If the players did care, they would not charge money for their signatures. If they cared, they would not demand such high salaries which cause higher ticket prices. If they cared, they would not go on strike depriving their fans from watching them play.

President Bush and Senator Kerry verbal spewage
Wednesday, October 20, 2004 @ 11:10PM
I believe it is time something is said about the upcoming election and the political rhetoric that is being spewed by both campaigns (Yes, I am aware there are other candidates but other than C-SPAN no one is listening to their verbal spewing). Do people actually think either candidate will actually do what they say if they are elected? Do people seriously think President Bush will kill the social security system? The people who receive social security make up the largest voting block. Killing social security will kill the careers of anyone that supports ending social security. Do people actually think Senator Kerry will pull all troops out of Iraq as soon as he is elected? Pulling troops out will destroy any stability currently in Iraq causing more problems there are now and as a result destroy the chance of Senator Kerry running for reelection.

    Inclement weather driving
Tuesday, October 19, 2004 @ 11:23PM
As the temperatures lower and rain becomes snow it is important to be careful while driving however there are times when drivers begin to freak out because of a little snow or rain which results in traffic being ground to a halt. The following tips are to help drivers know when to use precaution and when not as rain and snow falls to the ground.

• When it begins to rain or snow heavily, turn on your damn headlights you dumbass! Headlights not only allow you to see me but also make it easier for me to avoid smashing into the back of your car. However this does not mean you should turn or your highbeems.
• Keep in mind that wet brakes are not nearly as effective as dry brakes, and as such pulling out in front of me and forcing me to hit the brakes hard when I'm going 55 is even less intelligent than usual.
• Be able to identify and compensate for various types on inclement weather. Despite what you believe five drops of rain on your windshield does not constitute a rainstorm. There is no need to slow down to 50mph in a 65mph zone.
• If you have a four-wheel drive SUV does not mean you rule the road. During rain and snow storms it is still possible to loose control of your SUV. Having a four-wheel drive SUV does not make you indestructible.

Computers cannot be treated the same way as toasters.
Monday, October 18, 2004 @ 10:29PM
Unlike a toaster you cannot use a computer and not take proper precautions to make sure it is protected from people and companies trying to hijack it. Many people are beginning to understand a computer must have a virus scanner to protect it from viruses but most people still do not understand the need to protect their computer from spyware. Spyware is commonly referred to as a program which monitors and collects information about a user with the purpose of sending the data back to a central server. It is estimated 90% of computers are infected with spyware.

Spyware not only gives out information collected about the computer user but can also cause an increase of popup ads displayed on user’s computer, slow down the internet connection and computer and make the computer more acceptable to more spyware and viruses. I once talked to an individual who had over 1000 different files which made up the spyware and viruses on his computer. I would not have believed one computer could be so bad till he showed me a printout of everything found on his computer. And he wondered why his computer ran so slow.

    Replacing the iPod battery
Friday, October 8, 2004 @ 12:14PM
Do you know how many people told me they will not buy an iPod because the battery is not replaceable? Despite what some websites are saying, it is possible to have the battery in the iPod replaced. The iPod battery is rated to last for 500 charging cycles which means most batteries will last for several years. But when the battery does finally die, it can be replaced. If the battery dies within two years and the iPod owner bought the AppleCare extended warranty, Apple will replace the battery for free. If the iPod is out of warranty it is still possible to replace the battery by either sending it back to Apple or doing it yourself.

    To Mars and Beyond
Thursday, October 7, 2004 @ 09:36PM
Yet again more evidence of liquid water has been found on Mars. This is not the first time. The presence of water (or evidence water once flowed) is just more evidence to add to other evidence which provides more clues that lead to believing there might be life on mars.

Many people think life might actually be on Mars. How about actually sending a couple of people over to Mars and start digging in the ground until life is found or a geyser of water is discovered? Instead of spending hundreds of millions to send little robots that break very easily and when they do work they are very slow; how about we actually send a few people to Mars. A couple of astronauts could accomplish more in a few hours than what takes these puny little robots weeks to do. When you send people you will not have to worry about them hitting a rock and breaking or falling down into a creator and unlike robots people can fix themselves and tell you what is wrong instead of guessing what happened from millions of miles away.
