World News: To Mars and Beyond | Thursday, October 7, 2004 @ 09:36PMYet again more evidence of liquid water has been found on Mars. This is not the first time. The presence of water (or evidence water once flowed) is just more evidence to add to other evidence which provides more clues that lead to believing there might be life on mars. Many people think life might actually be on Mars. How about actually sending a couple of people over to Mars and start digging in the ground until life is found or a geyser of water is discovered? Instead of spending hundreds of millions to send little robots that break very easily and when they do work they are very slow; how about we actually send a few people to Mars. A couple of astronauts could accomplish more in a few hours than what takes these puny little robots weeks to do. When you send people you will not have to worry about them hitting a rock and breaking or falling down into a creator and unlike robots people can fix themselves and tell you what is wrong instead of guessing what happened from millions of miles away.
Why should we be sending anything to Mars to begin with? Because people explore; we are creature that search out new places and ideas. We thirst for knowledge. There is a giant rock in space we know almost nothing about, we have the ability to reach and yet many say we should not land there. We must go to say hello to the possible live forms living there. There might be nothing more than an ameba living on Mars but we are the most intelligent species on Earth and must find out. I will leave you with one more reason to go to mars, technological advancement. Since the creation of NASA we have sent people to the moon and in the process created many new technologies that are used everyday today on Earth. A visit to the NASA Spinoff Database shows how many things have been created as a result of NASA reaching for the stars. Who knows what new spectacular ideas and technology will be created from a result of it? Just imagine what would happen if we did find life on Mars?
